The Department of Health and
Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) has recently added to
its work plan, which
it began updating monthly in 2017.
OIG announced plans to conduct work on Medicaid
nursing home supplemental payments and to issue a report in FY2019. CMS has approved a nursing home
supplemental payment program in some states that pays the difference between
Medicare and Medicaid rates for nursing home services.
OIG plans to review the
nursing home supplemental payment program's flow of funding and determine how
the funds are being used.
