NIA Releases Safety Tips for Living with Lewy Body Dementia

Lindsay Schwartz

The National Institute on Aging, the lead U.S. Government agency for Alzheimer’s research, released tips for living with Lewy Body Dementia. Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) is a progressive disorder that impacts the brain’s normal functioning which can lead to difficulty with thinking, movement, behavior, and mood. As LBD progresses, it can impact an individual’s ability to complete activities of daily living and instrumental activities of living. Good lighting, grab bars, and ensuring walkways are clear can reduce the risk of falls.

Additional information on supporting individuals with LBD can be found at the NIA website.
