MedPAC Advances Unified Post-Acute Payment System

The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), a nonpartisan legislative branch agency that provides the U.S. Congress with analysis and policy advice on the Medicare program, met last week to discuss post-acute payment. In response to a Congressional mandate in the IMPACT Act, the Commission has made recommendations of moving to a unified post-acute payment system. Thursday’s meeting featured a discussion on “blending” post-acute payment policy before moving to a fully unified system in 2021.
