AHCA/NCAL Joins Letter to HUD on Mortgage Insurance Premiums

Dana Halvorson

AHCA/NCAL signed onto a letter from the Committee on Healthcare Financing to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that focuses on the proposed decrease to HUD’s certain mortgage insurance premiums (MIP) as announced in the January 28 Federal Register. The letter is in support of HUD’s efforts to reduce the MIP for affordable multifamily housing projects – with a request that HUD extend that same MIP reduction to its Section 232 and Section 242 loan programs. This would impact SNFs, ALFs and hospitals. Section 232 and Section 242 loans facilitate financing for projects that serve basic housing and health care needs of our nation’s low-income population.

In addition to AHCA/NCAL, the letter was signed by the American Hospital Association, American Seniors Housing Association, Coalition for Healthcare Finance, Greater New York Hospital Association, Healthcare Association of New York State, and LeadingAge.

If you have any questions on the letter, please feel free to contact Rod Owens, the Executive Director of the Committee on Healthcare Financing, at rdo@committeehcf.org or Dana Halvorson, AHCA’s Senior Director of Not for Profit & Constituent Services, at dhalvorson@ahca.org.
