September is Sepsis Awareness Month

Kate H. Wiedeman, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

September is Sepsis Awareness Month. In recognition, on Thursday, September 10, 2015, the CDC will be hosting a live Twitter chat about sepsis from 2-3 PM EST. This is an opportunity to raise awareness on the importance of early detection and the treatment of sepsis. CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden will be tweeting during the chat and you can join us in this effort (from your respective Twitter handles). It would be an excellent opportunity to promote your relevant materials and resources and learn from the experts about what sepsis is and who is at risk. This will also include advice to patients and to healthcare providers.

If you are interested in participating in the “Sepsis Awareness Month Twitter Chat,” follow along this Thursday afternoon using #SepsisChat. Follow @DrFriedenCDC, @CDCgov and @CDC_NCEZID as well as @ahcancal and @ProviderMag to see what we're discussing.

Check out this helpful document outlining the details of sepsis created by the CDC. More information can be found at www.cdc.gov/sepsis.
