Introducing NCAL’s Quality Initiative Recognition Program

Today, NCAL officially launched the assisted living portion of the Quality Initiative Recognition Program. The program recognizes NCAL members that demonstrate the attainment and a commitment to one or more of the four NCAL Quality Initiative goals:
  •  Safely reduce hospital readmissions by 15%
  • Increase staff stability by maintaining nursing staff turnover below 30%
  • Increase customer satisfaction to 90%
  • Safely reduce the off-label use of antipsychotics by 15%

Similar to AHCA’s Quality Initiative Recognition Program, the NCAL program recognizes achievers in a tiered-approach, where member assisted living communities will increase their recognition as they accomplish multiple Quality Initiative goals.

NCAL members only need to do three, simple things:

1. Submit your community’s nursing staff turnover rates;
2. Submit your community’s customer satisfaction results; and
3. Pledge to register in the Patient Safety Organization (registration will be required for recognition once the PSO officially becomes available later this fall).

Assisted living communities that reach any of the tiers will be honored at AHCA/NCAL’s 2014 Quality Symposium in New Orleans. Those facilities that achieve two goals (staff stability and customer satisfaction) and join the New Jersey Hospital Association’s (NJHA) Patient Safety Organization will receive special recognition:

  • Community reps attending Quality Symposium will receive a Quality ribbon and pin to wear with their registration badges
  • The community’s name will appear in the Quality Symposium brochure
  •  The community will receive a certificate which will be presented to a community rep during the Quality Symposium
  • The community’s name will be featured on the NCAL Quality Initiative website
  • The community’s name will be included in a national press release from AHCA/NCAL highlighting the program
  • The community will be featured in Provider Magazine and/or on Provider’s website

All submissions must be received by NCAL by no later than 11:59pm EDT on Monday, September 30, 2013. Those receiving recognition will be notified in November.
